The Filipino American Heritage Foundation – Nevada takes the time to acknowledge and honor Filipinos and Filipino Americans in the state of Nevada for their exceptional accomplishments and contributions to mainstream American society. Awardees are considered by community nomination and are then reviewed by the Awards Committee. Requirements for nominees are that they be a resident of Nevada and have displayed achievements including professional excellence, community involvement, leadership and innovation, cultural advocacy, positive impact, and ethical standards.
Filipino American history is American history. The Golden Pearl Awards is marked in observance of the Filipino American Heritage Month (FAHM) in October, to mark the anniversary of the first recorded evidence of Filipinos in America.
